Circle Spin Cards

Have you seen Close to my Heart’s fun new Circle Spin Cards? I had the chance to play with them last week while coming up with a couple of birthday card ideas for a friend of mine. She wanted a “boy” version and a “girl” version.

I sanded some Cranberry cardstock for the top layer of the “boy” version and cut out the small square using Cricut Craft Room. (Here is the .ccr file I created to make it easier to cut the small square.) The Birthday Wish mini stamp was stamped to make the background in Cranberry ink. I also cut (2) 2" circles and stamped it on each one with Slate ink. Then I colored the sentiment in with Whisper and Cranberry markers. I adhered one circle to each side of the spinner with 3-D Foam Tape. (I wonder if I will ever be able to make a project without using 3-D Foam Tape? LOL!)

I also stamped the car image from the Maximum Power stamp set on a piece of scrap cardstock and cut it out. After coloring it in, I adhered it to the card with...yes, you guessed it...some 3-D Foam Tape. I don't have a photo of the inside, but I also used the Maximum Power set to stamp some tire tracks on the inside at the bottom with Slate ink.

My “girl” version was inspired by a card that we made at the CTMH Convention this past summer. I used some Laughing Lola papers and one of the stamps that comes with the Artiste Cricut Collection to create the cupcake and the birthday banner. (I LOVE this stamp set!) The scallops were created with CTMH’s Scallop Border Punch. After adhering the scalloped layers, I curled them up a bit to give the card a little fun dimension.

I also added a little bit of Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel to the cupcake sprinkles. After all, what fun is a cupcake without sprinkles?

I’d love to see what you make with the Circle Spin Cards. Feel free to post a link here to your cards. If you don’t have any of these fun cards yet, you are welcome to visit my shopping website to order the supplies.

Pop-Up Christmas Card - Holidays from the Heart Blog Hop

Are you as excited about Close to my Heart’s Holidays from the Heart Gift Guide as I am? I am thrilled to participate in another Blog Hop highlighting products from the Guide. I am loving all of these great new products, patterns, and stamps. Today I have a fun card to share with you using some of the new Washi Tape. I fell in love with this card and knew the minute I saw it that I wanted to recreate it using some of the products from the Gift Guide. Isn’t the pop-up gift inside cute?

Instead of using patterned paper on this card, I decided to us the new Sparkle and Shine Washi Tape. I thought it would be fun to use the little Santa from the Santa Claus stamp set and have him sitting on the edge of the pop-up present. I did a little paper piecing with Santa to get the different colors. I also used some Red and Silver Shimmer Trim and a little Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon.

The outside of the card is pretty simple. I wanted to incorporate more of the Washi Tape, so I adhered them at an angle on a separate piece of cardstock. I added a zip strip from one of the patterned papers also. After matting the final piece to a piece of Slate cardstock and popped it up with some 3-D Foam Tape. The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is also from the Santa Claus set. (I love that it coordinates with the bracket shape on the new Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.)

Did you know that when you place an order for $100 or more anytime from now - December 31, 2013, you will qualify for one free “star” item from the Holidays from the Heart Gift Guide?

Holidays from the Heart Blog Hop

I am so excited to be participating in a fun Blog Hop highlighting products from Close to my Heart’s new Holiday Gift Guide. (I will be participating in another fun Blog Hop in a few days so be sure to check back then for more great Holiday Gift Guide ideas!)

If you arrived here from Diana Veenendaal’s blog, then you are on the right path. Welcome! I would love to share with you a “re-creation” of one of my fun projects from the past. I created this Note Box Set last year and thought it would be fun to use the same template to make a Christmas themed set. I used the new Sparkle and Shine papers along with the coordinating Dimensional Elements for this project. The colors in the Collection are Ruby, Juniper, and Slate.

I embellished the outside of a My Creations Card Box with a piece of Ruby Chevron ribbon and a few pieces from the Sparkle and Shine Dimensional Elements along with some Ruby and Juniper Cardstock and some papers from the Sparkle and Shine Collection

The inside holds (6) 3" x 3" scallop notecards, 3" x 3" white envelopes, and some of the tags from the Sparkle and Shine Dimensional Elements. I also slipped a small piece of patterned paper inside of an RSVP Pen and placed it inside the box.

I created an insert for the cards and pen on the inside of the box using another piece of patterned paper from the from Sparkle and Shine Collection.

The 3" x 3" scallop card bases were cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. The new Magical Days stamp set and the stamp set that comes in the Sparkle and Shine Workshop on the Go Kit were perfect to embellish the mini cards.

With a little 3-D Foam Tape, the mini cards took on a whole new dimension.

Thanks for stopping by! Now head on over to Michelle Snyder’s blog to see her fun creation! Be sure to visit all of the blogs so you won’t miss any of the super fun and create ideas!
