Ba na na na na na, you say it's your birthday...

Good morning everyone! God has blessed me with another birthday today! I have decided that instead of being sad today that I am another year older, I am going to be thankful that I have been blessed with the gift of another year!

I have to tell you a funny story. My darling 4-year-old daughter asked me how old I was today and I asked her how old she thought I was. First she said, “13?” When I said, “Nope. Try again” she said, “Ummm...100?” Boy, I’m not sure which age is worse, 13 or 100? LOL! I think I’ll stick with 41 for this year.

Hope you all have a fabulous day! I know I will...there is sushi involved later today! That makes me happy! *Ü*

Only a few more days to get the You & Me Kit

As National Scrapbooking Month comes to a close, I wanted to remind you that there are only a couple of days left to get the fabulous
You & Me Scrapbooking Kit! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this kit! Not only does it have everything you need to make these two layouts, including step-by- step instructions, but it is so versatile that you can even use it to make cards instead if you like.

Here are a some close ups of the layouts that I made using the kit...

This is from my daughter’s 3rd birthday party. We had a tea party for her where the girls all dressed up in fancy dresses and wore boas, hats, gloves, etc. Her little friend Vince even came with a tie and top hat! The photos were perfect for this layout.

Isn’t that ribbon YUMMY?????

This is my little guy when we took some old fashioned pictures a couple years ago. I didn't have any photos to fit the layout template, so I used a vertical photo on the right page instead of two smaller horizontal ones, and I turned the other photo well into a journaling block and stamped around the edges with one of the stamps that comes in the kit.

This exclusive kit is only available until May 31st, so make sure to get yours today! There are 3 ways you can get one.
  1. Order a kit for $34.95 on my website or by contacting me.
  2. Place a $50 order and you’ll qualify to get the kit for only $15.
  3. Order a New Consultant Kit (which is 1/2 price this month) and you will get the You & Me Kit for FREE! Click here to order your New Consultant Kit.
Check out this video for details on what is included in the kit and how it works...

Why should you sign up to become a Close to my Heart Consultant?

In addition to questions about me and my team, recently I have also been asked a lot questions about the requirements of being a Close to my Heart Consultant and why someone should sign up. If you'd like to know a little more about me and my team, feel free to check out my post here.

If you'd like to know why you should sign up to become a CTMH Consultant, hopefully this post will clarify some of your questions.
  1. How much does the New Consultant Kit cost?
The regular price is $129 (plus tax and shipping) but if you sign up before May 31st, you get it at 1/2 price for only $64.50!

  2. What comes in the New Consultant Kit?
You get a choice of 3 different “Choose Me” Options that you can see here. Plus if you sign up in May, you also get the You & Me Scrapbooking Kit for FREE! (That's a value of over $300 depending on which options you choose!)

  3. What’s the catch?
Other than getting a ton of wonderful products at a great deal and most likely getting addicted to them, there is no catch. You have the opportunity to build a business if you choose, but you don’t have to.

  4. What if I don’t want to build a business and I just want to get the discount for myself on future orders?
That’s great! A majority of Consultants are Hobbyists or Personal Use Consultants and do not do parties or hold classes or workshops. You are welcome to simply enjoy the discount on your own orders.

  5. What is the discount?
Active Consultants enjoy the current discount of 22%-34% depending on their sales for the month.
In October the compensation plan will change...for the better!!! Can you say, discount AND free product??? I can’t wait!

  6. What are the sales requirements?
The sales requirement is $300 retail (before your discount) to stay a full Consultant.

  7. What if I don’t place $300 in a quarter or place any orders at all?
Once you sign up, you have a full quarter to make your sales minimum which means that you have until the end of September to enjoy the full discount if you choose. Then if you do not have $300 in orders, you will drop to Junior Consultant status on October 1st. As a Junior Consultant your discount drops to 10% but you only need to have $100 in orders per quarter. If you do not have $100 in that quarter, you simply drop and are no longer a Consultant. But if you happen to have $300 as a Junior, you automatically jump back up to full status!

  8. How long will I be a Consultant if I order the kit and then do nothing?
You will be active until September 30th. Then you will drop to Junior on October 1st . Then as of January 1st, you will no longer be considered a Consultant. But our new catalog comes out in August (July for Consultants) and I can tell you, because I have some inside information (wink, wink) that you will be VERY excited that you are a Consultant and are able to order the new products at a discount. So chances are you will not drop! LOL!

  9. Do I need to give the Kit back if I drop?
Nope. Everything is yours to keep! No strings attached.

  10. Are you required to maintain an inventory?
Nope. There are so many different products that CTMH actually suggests that you do not maintain an inventory. You can place an order for 1 item or 1000 items, so there is really no need to keep an inventory.

  11. Does the company offer Hostess gifts? If so, who pays for them?
Yes! CTMH pays for the hostess rewards. And as a Consultant, you are welcome to be your own Hostess and earn more free goodies!

  12. Does CTMH offer any training or events?
Ummm....a great big YES! There are so many different training options available including an entire Online Training Academy where you can take free online creative, business, and personal development classes. You can even earn your CTMH Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees! There is an entire listening library of recorded conference calls, bulletin boards for artwork, business, templates, Studio J, Swaps, Mentoring, and more. They have pre-designed projects and workshops for us to use. There are annual events such as Leadershare and Convention. There is even an 800# that you can call if you have questions. And a ton more! You will never be without help.

  13. How do you sign up?
You can sign up at my website here. It will only take you about 5 minutes. The hardest part will be choosing which bundled products you want in your kit!

  14. How long will it take to receive my kit?
They have been shipping them out very quickly. I had a gal sign up on Monday and she got her kit today! That’s only 3 days from the time she signed up until it showed up on her doorstep! But it will depend on where you live.

  15. Can I contact you if I have questions after I sign up?
Of course. I am available to my team via phone, email, Facebook, and Twitter. I am more than happy to help you get started building a business, or just encourage you if you would simply like to be a Personal Use Consultant .
Whatever your reason for signing up, there really is no risk! You have nothing to lose! Plus at 50% off and the fact that you get the free You & Me Kit this month, this is the best time to do it! But hurry, you only have a few more days to take advantage of this amazing deal!

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. I’d be more than happy to chat with you.

Or if you are ready to sign up now, you can find the online application
here.

One more great reason to join the Close to my Heart family is that you will make some wonderful friends! This is a photo of me with my two sweet friends Christine and Melissa from our Convention last year. These are two wonderful women that I would never have been blessed to meet if it weren’t for Close to my Heart! It’s more than just a stamping and scrapbooking company. It is a family! *Ü*

Live Life "Lucky" Layout - Say that 3 times fast!

I know I have been talking a lot about Studio J lately, and I LOVE the ease of doing my layouts on the computer, but I don't think I will ever fully give up the hands-on craft of creating classic layouts. This is a layout that we created at our team meeting a couple weeks ago. We used the Lucky Papers and pretty much everything that comes in the Lucky Workshop on the Go Kit. I love our Workshops on the Go Kits because they have everything you need, including instructions, to create a layout and some cards. Check out all of the current Workshop on the Go Kits here.

I used some photos for the layout that were taken last year when my son learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. We were all so proud of him. I’m actually not sure who was prouder, him or us! I still need to add the journaling, but it's almost finished.

Don’t you just love this paper? Masculine layouts and cards are always so hard to make, but this paper makes it much easier.

There are a few different ways you can get it.
  1. Purchase the paper packet here.

  2. Purchase the entire Lucky Workshop on the Go Kit here.

  3. Order the New Consultant Kit and choose “Choose Me Option 4” along with 2 other bundles of products, all for 50% off until May 31st. You will get over $300 in goodies for only $64.50! Click here for more info on the New Consultant 1/2 price promotion. Click here to order your New Consultant kit.

Tea Time Invitation

Our church had a Ladies Spring Tea a couple of weeks ago and they asked me to make the invitations. I agreed before they told me that they needed 140 of them! Oh My! I had lots of great ideas but needed to simplify it A LOT in order to make so many. I used Close to my Heart’s adorable new Tea Time stamp set along with the Tea for Two set from Papertrey Ink. The two sets worked really well together. I stamped the tea pot on some small doilies I got at Walmart in Blush ink and then stamped the sentiment on top in Cocoa ink. I layered the 5"x5" cards with paper from the Sophia Collection and added a little pink organdy ribbon bow.

The inside was printed on some White Daisy cardstock. I stamped the little flowers and tea cup (from the Tea Time set) in Blush ink, matted it on some Sweet Leaf cardstock and was done. Then I only had 139 more to go! Ugg!

My darling husband, who normally runs out of the room as fast as he can when he hears the words “stamp,” “scrapbook,” or “Close to my Heart,” actually offered to help me at midnight when I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. I HAD to get a picture of it and teased him that I was going to post it all over the internet. (And here I am posting it on my blog. hee-hee.) He actually got pretty comfortable using the Bonding Memories Glue after a while. When he asked me if he could try stamping, I almost fell on the floor. I would have loved to show him how, but all of the stamping was done and I really needed to get the rest of them glued before church the next day. I will try to entice him with a private stamping class another time. *Ü*

All supplies used from Close to my Heart unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Tea Time, Tea for Two (PTI)
Paper: Sophia, Sweet Leaf & White Daisy CS
Inks: Blush, Cocoa
Other: Doilies, Pink Organdy Ribbon (CTMH retired)

Who is Lisa Stenz?

I have had a few people contact me over the past few weeks who wanted to take advantage of the great sign-up deal and become a Close to my Heart Consultant. Understandably, they wanted to find an upline that they could relate to and wanted to know a little bit more about me and my business before joining my team. I thought it might be beneficial to post a little about myself here for those of you would would like to get to know me better. (Of course you are always welcome to email me if you have any questions or would like to know something more specific about me or my business.)

Let's see, where should I start? My name is Lisa Stenz and I am 41 years old. I live in Southern California with my hubby of almost 11 years and my two adorable kiddos who are 5 and 8. As it states in the “About Me” section on the left, I am a Christian and try to live my life first and foremost for the Lord. I teach a Sunday School class at our church for Kindergartners and love it. (I really love that age!)

I have a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design and worked as a Graphic Designer in the corporate world for over 10 years. Currently I am a stay at home mom and a CTMH Consultant. I have been a Consultant for 7-1/2 years and have loved every minute of it! I signed up primarily for the discount, but after all of my friends and family saw the amazing products and wanted to learn more about them, I ended up turning my hobby into a lucrative business. I enjoy going out and doing home gatherings, workshops, classes, and monthly clubs. (Feel free to contact me if you'd like more information on hosting a home gathering, attending a class, or joining a club. You can even have a virtual party and earn hostess rewards all online!)

My team currently consists of 27 first downline (those who signed up directly under me). I currently have 1st downline team members in 10 different states. I enjoy having both hobbyists (personal use Consultants) and business builders on my team. I try my best to support each individual team member in whatever way they like. (I never want to pressure my personal use Consultants, and yet I want to encourage my business builders.) I send out monthly team newsletters and have a special team Facebook page where all of my downline (1st - 5th) have access. I try to be available to my team whenever anyone needs me via email, phone, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better. Feel free to post questions here or contact me directly if you'd like to know anything else about me, Close to my Heart, or joining my team.

Have a blessed day! *Ü*
Creatively Yours,
Lisa Stenz

Thanks to Cindy Baker for a great team meeting yesterday. One of the projects we all made was this super cute paper bag album. We also made a layout using the Lucky papers. (As soon as I add photos to my layout, I will share it with you.) Here is another cute project that I was lucky enough to get from Cindy. In addition to a cute stamp set, she gave me this adorable bag filled with all kinds of goodies for promoting back to Director. The bag is just as cool as all of the goodies inside! You are the best Cindy! Thank you soooooo much for a great day and the sweet gift! xoxo

This is Vanessa and Jaime, two of my first downline. They had a great time meeting each other. God Bless You Card with Napkin Flower

For some reason Blogger deleted my post from yesterday, so I am going to try to post it again...

This a very simple card that I taught at a church function last night. I taught the ladies how to make a flower using a plain white napkin. We punched the napkin with CTMH’s scallop circle punch 3 times. (Make sure to sandwich your napkin with a piece of copy paper on each side before punching or your punch will jam! Trust me on this one.) Then we poked a hole in the middle of the stack of punched napkins using a Piercing tool. We inserted a white brad in the middle and then scrunched up each layer towards the middle to make it look like a white carnation. If you have visited my blog in the past, you have probably seen my crimped leaves before. We just folded a piece of cardstock in half and ran it through a crimper at an angle. Then we cut a half leaf shape out and when we opened it up, we had a perfect leaf shape. Some of the ladies used a sanding block on the leaves to distress them a bit.

All supplies used from Close to my Heart unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Card Chatter - Sympathy
Paper: Sweetheart, Pear CS, Hollyhock CS
Inks: Chocolate
Other: white napkin, 2" scallop circle punch, Sanding Block, piercing tool, white brad, scallop scissors

Happy Mother's Day!

My mom is the most amazing woman I know. She is smart, beautiful, kind, has a heart of gold, and is a wonderful mother and grandmother! She is also one of the strongest people I know. She was widowed twice before the age of 60, has battled breast cancer and skin cancer, weathered through the Northridge earthquake, and can even handle watching BOTH of my kids at the same time! She is one strong lady! *Ü* This is the first year in a long time that I won't get to spend Mother's Day with her. But, my younger brother in New Jersey has the honor of spoiling her this year, so she won't be alone. (Take good care of her Stephen!)
I love you Mom. Have a wonderful day.
xoxo

This is a photo of Mom & me on Mother's day a couple of years ago. (Sorry it is so blurry.)

I love this picture because it shows four generations. It was taken on my daughter's 1st birthday before my grandmother passed away. (I know it wasn't the best hair day for any of us, but I still love it.)

This one was taken last year at the La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA. Mom took me there to celebrate my 40th birthday. The photo was taken right after we each had a massage. Pure bliss!

H2H Challenge - All About Mom

I am sad to say that this is my last Heart 2 Heart Challenge as a Design Team Member. I was honored to serve with some of the most creative Consultants, that many times I was ashamed to post my humble artwork among theirs. Not only is this group of women amazingly talented, they also have some of the biggest hearts I have ever seen. I am grateful to be able to call each one of them my friends! And a special thank you goes out to Mary Vogel, the “leader of the pack,” who has been so wonderful to work with! Thanks for the opportunity Mary! Love ya tons!

The reason that I am stepping down, along with my sweet friend Corina, is because we were both chosen to teach at Close to my Heart’s Extravaganza event at Convention this summer. Having taught before, I know the demands of creative energy and time that are ahead of me as I prepare. I want to put all of my creative time into preparing for my class. I am SUPER excited about my class topic and know that you will be too. (I wish I could say more, but it is all very hush hush! LOL!) Hope to see you in Anaheim, CA at the Disneyland Hotel in July for our annual Convention!

Ok, now onto the challenge. Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and who doesn’t want to make Mom happy? This week’s challenge is to create something special for Mom. I created this card using the beautiful Wings paper packet. I also used some Chocolate Love Letter Rub-Ons for the letters. Would you believe that they are on sale for 70% off right now on my website? Be sure to order yours before they are gone.
(They are only available while supplies last!)

I also used the Stitched Together stamp set to make the flowers. I didn’t have any small brown buttons so I used some clear buttons and inked the back with some Brown StazOn ink for the flower centers.

I added a bit of real stitching around the edges of the card and on the top of the word “day.” Then I finished the card off with some Cocoa Grosgrain ribbon. Now I just need to figure out if it is going to my Mom or my sweet Mother-in-Law.

I don’t want to forget to welcome H2H’s new DT Members Jody Gustafson and Haley Dyer. They are both SUPER talented and I know you will be drooling over their artwork like I do. Also, please welcome Joelle H. who is the Guest Design Team Member and our 2 prize sponsors this month, Sharon Holmes and Angel Shifflett.

Now it’s your turn. We’d love to see what you create for Mom. Be sure to check out the other Design Team members projects and then upload yours onto the H2H Blog. Play along all month long for more chances to win some great prizes and possibly be the next Guest Design Team Member!

The cost for the May kit will be $10 or $5 with a $25 order. (If you are not local, please add $5 for shipping.)
